This May Bank Holiday, Sunday 2nd May, sees Barnes Stormers return to East London in a rematch against Millwall Romans.
With their first ever meeting just 2 weeks ago resulting in a disapointing 5-3 loss for the Stormers, Barnes are looking to bounce back and carry on their superb form from their previous victory against higher division opponents Junction Elite. One player in particular, George Fry, will be looking to carry his excellent form into a third consecutive week to a ground where he has scored 2 goals already this year. "George really has been fantastic for us these last few games and the goals are coming now too - fully deserved. I'm hoping he can cook up some more for us this weekend!", said an optimistic Tom Jackson.
Once again, Barnes Stormers will field a changed side with players missing for various reasons but player manager Jacko is confident he can still field a strong squad, "We'll be missing Mo Saibu for this rematch who was outstanding in the first game, he'll be a miss but we're hoping to bring in his younger brother for this game along with a little more youth across the rest of the pitch too". Hoping to offer some trials and debut minutes to young players, this Barnes side will still feature regulars and be a force to be reckoned with.
Last time out, the Stormers threw away a 2-1 half time lead but after a confidence boosting win last weekend, we're starting to see a more street-wise Barnes and the players are really starting to come into their own after a long 16 weeks of no football during lockdown and a few games to dust the cobwebs off.
We can't wait to see who comes out the victor of this next clash with the Millwall Romans!
