This Sunday 25th April sees Junction Elite 3rd XI host Barnes Stormers in the final group stage match of the Dylan Rigobert Trophy for group H.
Junction Elite will be a familiar foe for Barnes Stormers having been in the same division for the 19/20 season and having played both the home and away league fixtures before covid-19 prematurely brought the season to a close. That season saw Barnes and Junction Elite split the spoils with a win a piece but Junction Elite were moved up a division following a re-shuffle of teams for the 20/21 season. "Having played twice in the league last season with one win and loss, we're looking to get some bragging rights over Junction Elite and get a win in this cup game to show that just because they got moved into a higher league, doesn't mean we can't still mix it with them", said manager Tom Jackson.
With both teams having lost to West Norwood in their previous cup group stage games, this final match is somewhat of a dead rubber as only the top placed team in the group progresses into the knock out stages. Despite this, Barnes will be looking to play for pride and make sure they don't finish bottom of the group, "This is our last competitive fixture of 20/21 and we're looking to go out on a high with a win - hopefully on Sunday with the return of regular goalkeeper Billy Nicolaou and club captain Ben Theobald we can press on and get the result we're after".
