Barnes Stormers FC take on Olympique Mayonnaise this Sunday in a midday kickoff at Barn Elms Sports Centre.
Even at this early stage of the season, this is a big game in the battle for safety given these teams have already played out an exhilirating 3-3 draw in the league earlier this season. Always a fixture with goals, the previous draw saw no less than 4 penalties awarded!
"Yeah look, both teams know each other well. We know that both teams can score and nothing can be taken for granted. We have to take solace from our clean sheet last week and use that as a platform to build on rather than looking to simply outscore our opponents. I'm expecting goals, I'm expecting a good game but more than anything, I'm expecting my boys to come out and give it their all".
With two injuries in the 5-0 victory over Victoria Line Velocity, Barnes management duo Tom Jackson and Harry Cooper will be forced into a couple of changes in the starting line-up. "Unfortunately we picked up a couple of injuries in last week's game, but this is the reason we have a squad and a competitive training session - I know full well that we've got lads chomping at the bit waiting to jump into that lineup and prove why they should start week in week out" said Jackson, "I was impressed with the performance of some of the newer lads like McGarva who had a solid debut helping to keep a clean sheet or Dae with 2 assists and a goal and Liam getting his 2nd goal in 3 games coming on from the bench last week too. I could go on but I'm just glad that I can select the majority of the team again and I'll be looking for everyone in that team to continue that work rate and level of performance as the weeks continue".
