Barnes Stormers are due to face ACT Arantes for the third time this season as they face off at Wimbledon Common Extensions in the first round of the Brian Howard President's Cup.
It's been a split bag between these two teams in the league this season as each side took 3 points from their own respective home game. With a 1-2 loss and 5-3 win for Barnes Stormers, this game looks to be full of goals in an evenly matched 'best of 3' contest decider.
With several other teams in the league having been given 'byes' into the 2nd round due to the competition format, both Barnes and Arantes will be eager to grab a win and prove themselves to those teams awaiting the outcome. "It's a weird one where both clubs know who we could potentially face in the second round, and even third round and yet our two clubs still have to fight it out for the privilige of getting there. It's going to be a tough game but one we relish after a couple of really entertaining games against Arantes this season", said manager Jacko.
Barnes will be looking forward to welcoming back Luke and Casey into the squad as they also look to fill a hole left by a couple of absentees. With a goal tally spread out amongst a large number of players this season, Barnes manager Jacko is happy with his attacking options for Sunday, "The turn of the new year has brought in a host of new goal scorers across the pitch which is great to see. If we can score goals anywhere on the pitch then we are going to really threaten this Arantes team. Also from a team perspective, the players will all be looking to raise their game and add to their individual tallies for bragging rights over their mates so all of that will hopefully elevate us on the day".
With the majority of the midfield all having scored 2 goals in the league each this season, it's going to be a dangerous lineup that manager duo Jacko and Cooper pick for the game and up top, Kai will look to kick on with his goal scoring form after his recent return from injury.
