Match Report | Barnes 1 Victoria Line Velocity 1

Updated: Dec 16, 2020

Barnes kicked off their 2020/21 season with a 1-1 draw against Victoria Line Velocity thanks to Nuno’s second half equaliser.

From the kick off Barnes started the stronger side and had a few chances to open the scoring early on but nothing came of them, a lot of half chances rather than actual chances.

Despite being a bit more in control of the game the visitors were gaining a lot of opportunities of set pieces where they tried to hurt us with the swing at the back post, however in relief for Barnes the visitors weren’t able to capitalise.

However the visitors did take the lead in the second half when a mix up allowed their man on the right hand side to get through on goal and despite a hand on it from Ash found its way into the far bottom corner and gave VLV the lead.

All the pressure in the second half eventually paid off when Harry’s long throw in was flicked on by George into the path of Nuno who rifled it home to draw us level quite early into the restart.

Barnes could have snatched a win with multiple chances falling to Mo, Nuno, Ben and Harry while the visitors could have also scored when their attacker hit the post from not too far away.

Despite that a 1-1 draw reflected a good performance from both sides as we look to take the negatives from today and work on that in training.
