Managers notes | Victoria Line Velocity

Manager Tom Jackson gave his thought as his side opened the 2020/21 season with a point.

“First game of the season was always gonna have a few nerves. Every team wants to kick the campaign off with points on the board and Barnes Stormers FC are no different.

A few last minute drop outs hampered team selection and forced some people to play well out of position throwing people off but we held our own and had a good first 25 mins.”

The manager was disappointed in going behind in the first half after some good spells. ”Caught off guard, the oppo went ahead against the run of play but they took their chance well, something we did not andd were left rueing numerous missed efforts.”

Jacko was impressed with the second half performance and felt his side should have got a second.

“Half time talk spurred the boys on and we came out a harder, more determined team scoring the equaliser shortly after the restart. Unfortunately a but of ill discipline cost us free kicks in dangerous areas giving opportunities where none should have existed and a sin bin cut our tempo as we had to play more defensively with 10 men. Overall a much better, organised team performance in the second half but one that will leave us wondering "what if" with so many missed chances.”
