Manager Notes | Olympique Mayonnaise

Tom Jackson was happy with his teams response after last weeks frustrating 1-1 draw as his side came out 6-3 winners against Olympique Mayonnaise.

The gaffer was impressed with the quick start but was gutted to see his side go behind. “Started well from kick off, Nuno had a cracking first time chance that he skewed just wide of the post. However Olympique Mayonnaise hit us on the break and we conceded shortly after to a fine first time volley from the opposition. A few errors in misreading the ball and bounce will be enough to have cut out the goal.”

Barnes were on top and Tom was confident his side would get back level and it didn’t take long at all. “It didn't take long to equalise as Nuno had shot after shot with the midfield following in on rebounds. We went in to half time 2-1 up after some fantastic shots from Nuno who was an absolute nuisance to the opposition defence.”

Jackos side came out firing again in the second half and Jacko was delighted for Nuno in getting his hattrick. “Second half and we came out firing, Nuno getting his hattrick and then Harry's long throw putting so much pressure on the defence that they headed into their own net.”

Despite the 4-1 lead Barnes almost were pegged back and Jacko has said it was mistakes that brought the opposition back into the game. “The opposition came at us to get back in the game and a goalkeeping error let them back in to 4-3.”

A much more solid performance from the side and Jacko had praise for Abdi who’s twists and turns were too much for their back line and Harry finished the job with two more goals. “A few subs and formation change later resulted in some of the best football I've seen our winger Abdi play. Destroying defenders everywhere, he should have converted his chances to score but alas one nutmeg too many cost him. From there, 2 goals from Harry helped cement the lead at 6-3.”
