Match Report | Barnes fall short

Updated: Apr 11, 2020

Two goals against the run of play condemned Barnes to another defeat as the host came out 2-0 winners.

Barnes started strong and had a goal disallowed for offside when the ball fell to James 3 yards out from goal.

The intensity increased and Barnes continued to push for the opening goal but a well worked counter attack opened the scoring for the host as their striker found the bottom corner just outside the box.

Barnes had plenty of chances to level but decision making was preventing them from finding that goal. The first half was very one sided but it was the hosts who were in the lead.

The first ten minutes of the restart Barnes became sloppy and allowed the host to build up some pressure in which they failed to make Rob in goal work.

Despite all the pressure going forward, a long ball over the top catching Barnes out allowed the hosts to double the lead and kill the game.

A painful defeat to take but the two sides meet again next Sunday in the cup and revenge is best served sweet at Raynes Park
